Terms of Service

Last updated: 7/16/2026

This English version is provided for convenience. The Japanese version is the authoritative text; in case of any discrepancy, the Japanese version governs.

These Terms of Service (“these Terms”) govern your use of the mobile application “Seedex” and the official website seedex.me (together, “the Service”), provided by an individual developer (“the Developer”). By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 1 (Application)

These Terms apply to the entire relationship between the Developer and users regarding use of the Service. Any additional guidelines published by the Developer within the Service form part of these Terms.

Article 2 (Individual Development)

The Service is developed and operated by an individual, not a corporate entity. Please understand that the level of support and service continuity may differ from what a corporate service provider would offer.

Article 3 (Accounts)

No account registration is required to use the Service’s core features. Signing in with a Google account is required only if you choose to use the Plus plan’s Google Drive backup feature. In that case, you are responsible for managing your own Google account.

Article 4 (Prohibited Conduct)

When using the Service, you must not:

  1. Violate any law or public order and morals
  2. Engage in conduct related to criminal activity
  3. Destroy or interfere with the Service’s servers or network functions
  4. Engage in conduct that may interfere with the Developer’s operation of the Service
  5. Attempt or engage in unauthorized access
  6. Collect or store personal information about other users
  7. Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any system connected to the Service
  8. Use information obtained through the Service for commercial purposes beyond personal vocabulary learning
  9. Place excessive load on the Developer’s servers or APIs beyond normal use
  10. Engage in any other conduct the Developer deems inappropriate

Article 5 (Content of the Service)

The Service provides tools for recording and learning vocabulary such as English words. It includes AI-assisted features such as meaning explanations, example generation, and chat. The Developer makes no guarantee whatsoever regarding the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of AI-generated content. Please use your own judgment when relying on it for learning.

Article 6 (Disclaimer Regarding Data Storage and Backup)

The Service is designed to store your data primarily in a local database on your own device. Stored data may be lost due to device failure, loss, OS malfunction, accidental deletion, or uninstallation. The Developer bears no responsibility for any loss of data. Please back up important data regularly, at your own responsibility, using the App’s export feature or the Plus plan’s Google Drive backup feature.

Article 7 (Notes on the BYOK Feature)

Regarding the BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) feature available on the Plus plan: if you register and use an API key you obtained from a third-party AI provider (such as Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI), the contractual relationship, any fees, and usage limits with that provider are solely between you and that provider. The Developer bears no responsibility for the availability, pricing, or terms compliance of that third-party service. You are responsible for complying with that provider’s own terms of service.

Article 8 (Paid Plans)

  1. In addition to the free plan, the Service offers a one-time-purchase “Pro” plan and a subscription-based “Plus” plan.
  2. Purchases, billing, automatic renewal, and cancellation of paid plans are handled through Google Play or the Apple App Store, and are subject to each store’s own terms of service and billing policies.
  3. Refunds are subject to each store’s refund policy; the Developer cannot process refunds directly.
  4. The Developer may change the features included in a paid plan upon reasonable prior notice.

Article 9 (Advertising)

While using the free plan, third-party advertisements may be displayed within the Service. The Developer bears no responsibility for the content of such advertisements.

Article 10 (Intellectual Property)

Copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights related to the Service belong to the Developer or to third parties with legitimate rights. Vocabulary data, notes, and other content you create through the Service belong to you.

Article 11 (Exclusion of Antisocial Forces)

You represent and warrant that you are not, and have no relationship with, organized crime groups, their members, affiliated companies, corporate racketeers (“sokaiya”), or any similar antisocial forces.

Article 12 (Suspension, Modification, and Termination of the Service)

The Developer may suspend, interrupt, modify, or terminate all or part of the Service without prior notice to users in any of the following cases:

  1. When performing system maintenance or updates
  2. When providing the Service becomes difficult due to force majeure such as earthquakes, lightning, fire, power outages, or other natural disasters
  3. When the Developer otherwise determines that suspension, interruption, or termination is necessary

The Developer bears no responsibility for any damage users incur as a result of such suspension, interruption, modification, or termination.

Article 13 (Disclaimer)

  1. The Developer makes no express or implied warranty that the Service is free of factual or legal defects (including defects in safety, reliability, accuracy, completeness, validity, fitness for a particular purpose, security, errors, or bugs, and including infringement of rights).
  2. Except in cases of the Developer’s willful misconduct or gross negligence, the Developer bears no responsibility for any damage users incur arising from the Service.
  3. Any transaction, communication, or dispute arising between a user and a third party in connection with the Service shall be resolved at the user’s own responsibility.

Article 14 (Changes to These Terms)

The Developer may change these Terms without notifying users, when deemed necessary. The revised Terms take effect from the time they are published on the Site. If you continue to use the Service after a change to these Terms, you are deemed to have agreed to the revised Terms.

Article 15 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Developer’s location.
